“World Youth Skill Day“ (विश्व युवा कौशल दिवस) 2018

"World Youth Skills Day celebrated by the Department of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship"

Recognising the value of fostering acquisition of skills by youth to enhance their ability to make informed choices with regard to life and work to empower them to gain access to changing labour markets, July 15 was designated as World Youth Skills Day by the United Nations.  To mark the celebration of this special day, the Department of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship (DSEE) with the support of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been organising State level and District level events since 2015 with the active involvement of youth, employers/industry, industry associations, skill training providers and district administration.

To further the cause, the Department of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship having trained more than 7 lakh youth, celebrated the World Youth Skills Day 2018 on 14th July, 2018 at State Level. The day was celebrated in districts on 15th July, 2018. To make skilling more aspirational among the youth of the state, 9 Skill Icons were also felicitated and awarded with a sum of Rs.11,000 each along with a Certificate of Appreciation and Trophy. Also, a sum of Rs 5,000 was awarded to their respective training partners. Thirty-three brand ambassadors (one from each district) were also felicitated and awarded with a Memento and Certificate of Appreciation. One Skill Ambassador of the Year was also felicitated in which a youth is selected and awarded on the basis of his/her contribution in the field of self-employment.

Among other highlights of the event, website of the First Government University ‘Rajasthan ILD Skills University’ (RISU) was also launched during the event. Literature such as Safaltaki Kahaniya - A Success Story Book of RSLDC and Brochure for RISU were unveiled.In order to mobilise the rural youth, a Mobile Van was also flagged off for a 3-Day Awareness Campaign spreading the message of skill development among the rural masses of the State.

The World Youth Skill Day event witnessed the presence of senior dignitaries from the Government of Rajasthan, Department of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Industries, Confederation of Indian Industry, Industrial Training Institutes and training partners successfully skilled youths from all over the State.
